Col-or {kuhl-er}: “the quality of an object or substance with respect to light reflected by the object, usually determined visually by measurement of hue, saturation, and brightness of the reflected light; saturation or chroma; hue."
Color defines the world around us. All of us see life through colors - whites, greens, blues, reds, yellows, browns, purples, and blacks, to name a few. Colors reflect emotions - some related to joy, others revealing sorrow. As individuals, we relate things to colors - the colors of our favorite teams, colors we put on for certain events, colors we display in our house, color of our skin - all shades revealing something about ourselves. Artists display their colors in various ways, each one defining the particular piece of work. Wars have been and continue to be fought because of color. Beauty is defined by color - the clear rich blue of the ocean, the white sandy beaches, or the snow capped mountain peaks that demand the attention of something greater than ourselves.
In our world everything is surrounded by the color of our Creator. The soul reveals to us the most intricate portrait we could ever dream of...all of us at some point experiencing the deepest darkness of sorrow, and the extreme light of joy. The color of our soul is forever changing - every minute, every hour, every day, every year - always attempting to get it "just right." Our experiences create the shades, shadows, and reflections that make up who we are.
In this life, we will forever experience new colors - until the day we look upon the Artist whose unimaginable colors will, for eternity, reveal to us a new kind portrait - one that will never fade.
Here, I will reveal a portrait of a life - a life that thirsts to know more about my Artist. I will allow those who want it a peek into the colors that surround my life. Through everyday thoughts, events, and ideas, this painting will hopefully provide entertainment for those who are curious. I must say, my painting skills are weak - so bear with me as I begin a journey into my own soul, revealing the colors that are constantly changing.
